We apply a topical numbing cream to minimise discomfort, however there are certain areas of the face that are more sensitive than others. It is generally a very well tolerated procedure. We can provide a squeeze ball to distract you if needed!
You will be pink immediately after your treatment (similar to sunburn) and may be slightly swollen in areas. This usually reduces within 4-6 hours. The following day your skin may feel slightly tight but redness will have subsided. Your skin may feel rough and some peeling may be evident for the next few days.
The most popular areas are the face, neck, chest and hands. We can also treat anywhere else on the body to help with scarring and some stretch marks.
Following your treatment, you will receive two products to take away with you to use in the following 48 hours. No other products should be applied as this can cause unwanted side effects. Lift Gel can be applied for 24 hours following your treatment and the Rescue Balm can be applied 24 hours post procedure. You can return to your normal regime after 48 hours but avoid any active ingredients (Retinol, AHA, BHA, Enzymes, exfoliants) for 5-7 days or until you feel your face has healed. Avoid going in the sun or any other extreme heat such as hot tubs, saunas, steam rooms for 72 hours. Do not exercise for 3 days post procedure and avoid any sweat inducing activities.
Generally, patients notice tightening, and a more even tone to their skin a week or two after their first session. For areas with deeper imperfections, results can be subtler, and additional treatments are usually required. Since micro-needling stimulates new collagen and elastin production, these results will continue to build for up to 6 months. Unfortunately we cannot stop the aging process, but we can slow it down. With this in mind, results are not considered permanent, as natural degradation will occur over time. Improvements from micro-needling can be seen for several years after treatment, and results can be prolonged with the correct at home skincare and maintenance needling sessions. We offer 3 or 6 monthly sessions to get you started and then it is all about the maintenance.
