At Alisha Louise Aesthetics, we understand that the ageing process can be difficult to accept and sometimes, we need a helping hand to keep us feeling our best.

We help our patients to age safely, achieving beautiful, natural-looking results using a range of anti-wrinkle treatments to suit every individual, and we certainly won’t make you look as though you’ve never smiled!

Anti-wrinkle injection treatments have been used in medical practice for decades and are derived from naturally occurring plant proteins. We use only premium products to relax the targeted muscles and soften lines for an anti-ageing effect.  The injections contain a naturally occurring neurotoxin, botulinum toxin type A, which helps to stop the muscle contracting and wrinkling the skin.

The result will be a soft, natural look, improving lines whilst maintaining normal facial expression and restoring a more youthful appearance.

Anti-wrinkle injections are generally used in the upper third of the face, frown, forehead and crows feet.  We can also use them in the lower face to help with lifting and softening.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does it hurt?

Good news is no! I use the finest (smallest) needles money can buy, they are very gentle. There are a few strange ones out there who LOVE THE FEELING! You know who you are..... The sensation has been described as popping a spot.

How long does it take to work?

Everybody is different so times will vary but on average it takes a week to start seeing a difference but the full result will be seen at 2-3 weeks.

How long does it last?

Again, everybody's uptake and retention is different. Typically we give 2-6 months as the range, the average is 3 months. The actual half life of the drug is 8 weeks so you can expect some movement back after this time, however, full lines and wrinkles will take 3/4 months.

How does it work?

Without getting too technical, here’s what happens..... toxin binds to receptors that send nerve signals for our muscles to contract. Since our body makes new receptors and neurotransmitters all the time, each patient will have different lengths of effectiveness depending on how long our bodies take to recover. The uptake of Toxin is gradual but will also wear off gradually. So basically, we won’t wake up one day looking wrinkly!

Where can you have toxin?

Toxin is predominantly used for the upper third of the face so frown, forehead and eyes. We also use toxin to help with the lower face and neck to help with lifting and softening areas such as downward smile, chin dimpling and lip flipping. Toxin is also fantastic at aiding jaw grinding, teeth clenching and relieving headaches and migraines. Did you know we can also treat excessive sweating??

Are there any side effects?

As with any injection, you can get some redness, swelling and bruising in that area which typically goes down in an hour. If you have never had toxin before, a headache can be common which is relieved by simple analgesics. As toxin is a muscle relaxant, it can cause something called a ptosis - otherwise known as a droop or a heavy feeling in the eye or the brow . We will always treat you conservatively for your first time and top up as needed to adjust the dose to avoid this happening.

How much does it cost?

Pricing starts from £130. A full consultation will determine how much you will need. A review is offered free of charge but this must be between 2 and 4 weeks post injection.
